“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.” – John Lubbock.
Ye Old Swimming Hole

Everyone should have a summer swimming hole in their past This one can be found near Carthage, Missouri. — Photo by Pat Bean
“Summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all’s right with the world.” Ada Louise Huxtable.
Bean’s Pat:: The Kindness Kronicles: http://tinyurl.com/bnjcqha Today I simply pass on Debbie’s Irish blessing to my readers. Her blog offers daily inspiration for a kinder world.
*This recognition is merely this wandering/wondering old broad’s way of bringing attention to a blog I enjoyed – and thought perhaps my readers might, too. The Pat on the back is presented with no strings attached. May 26, patbean.wordpress.com
Though I was nowhere near a water hole today, still today was just such a day as you write about here! Lovely photo!
Where’s here, Edith?
Great photo, and thoughts. I was looking through old photos last week & found a photo Dad had taken of ours, & my thoughts were exactly as yours. I’ll be posting my photo soon.
Looking forward to your swimming hole photo.
Our river is swollen and very brown at the moment, still waiting for the rains to pass and summer to arrive in our bit of France. Last night was a hoolie of a storm, we sat watching and going wow for two hours.

It is dreay, rainy, cold and windy this Memorial weekend at Lake Walcott, unlike the sunny 90-degree day that I arrived here not quite two two weeks ago. Pepper and I are getting cabin fever. We’ve taken none but the necessary walks for her toilet. I thought we could have a longer walk a few minutes ago, but it started raining again and chased us back to Gypsy Lee’s warm shelter. Almost all the tenters have left and the only people I see emerge from their RVs are dog owners, who skelter back inside as soon as Rover has peed and pooped. Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow. A “wow” storm would be a nice break.

My daughter lives in Carthage. Where is the swimming hole located?
