This is how Pepper spends much of her time as we drive Route 66, her chin on the co-pilot arm rest staring at me. I actually snapped this picture as I drove down a lonely stretch of the road. Any guesses about what she is thinking? — Photo by Pat Bean
The Dog
I lie belly-up
In the sunshine, happier than
You ever will be.
Today I sniffed
Many dog butts—I celebrate
By kissing your face.
I sound the alarm!
Paperboy—come to kill us all —
Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!
… Sleeping here, my chin
On your foot—no greater bliss—well,
Maybe catching cats.
Look in my eyes and
Deny it. No human could
Love you as much I do.
I came across the poem above and it made me laugh. I don’t know who wrote it. Do you?
Bean’s Pat: Joy http://jmgoyder.com/2012/05/06/joy/ Very true words. I loved this blogger’s thoughts.
Great pooch that!
Thanks. She picked me.
“i love you i love you i love you i love you i love you i love you gotta treat?”
Belly laughing. You are so right on FeyGirl
I loved both the photo and the poem. If I were to guess what was going through Pepper’s mind, I would say that she was busy adoring you.
She does seem to do that Deb. Maggie, by beloved previous companion, expected me to adore her. It’s nice to be on the other side of the fence for a change.
When you have a dog adoring you 24 by 7, it’s hard not to adore her back at least a little bit. 🙂
What a perfect new companion. Adorable.
Thanks Len
At least he has one eye on the road.
Nope her eye was on me. It was me who only had one eye on the road. My camera’s a point and shoot so I only had to aim it in her direction.
Pepper looks adorable. What a wonderful traveling companion to have:)
Pat what an awesome little new travel buddy- great poem too- happy travels to you and Pepper!

P.S. I find myself shooting pics of Chipper while driving too ;>
That’s a first for me. But I just couldn’t resist that adorable face and those eyes staring at me.
Love it! What a great companion you have 🙂
Thanks.
Look at just how cute I am!!
And she is, too
So much love in those eyes. And such a beautiful girl with those red highlights in her hair!
That beautiful little girl just chewed her leash into two pieces. But yes. she makes me feel loved.
Hope to see in in the Canyon. Baileysmom10302@aol.com Pepper is beautiful
Thank you for sharing. Pepper is such a cutie. She is thinking “I am the world’s luckiest dog” 🙂 And, I love the poem.
Her mistress is thinking she’s lucky, too. Thanks for commenting EllaDee.
“Are we there yet?”
That’s a good guess Barb. Thanks for sharing.
Love the poem – it’s true too
“happier than
You ever will be.”
There is no joy like the joy of a happy dog 🙂
And Pepper is a total cutie!

She has truly bonded to me, that’s for sure. I can’t walk six feet into my bathroom that she doesn’t follow me.
Keep writing … Pat Bean https://patbean.wordpress.com
She adores you – no question about it. Probably because you allow post-butt kisses. LOL.
It only crosses my mind afterwards Dani
Your dog is charming.
