He Believed in Truth

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

            A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.

            Ethical axioms are found and tested not very differently from the axioms of science. Truth is what stands the test of experience/

            I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

            Imagination is more important than knowledge.

            The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty and Truth.

            Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

            Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

            Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

Curiosity

It is said that curiosity killed the cat. All I have to say to that is it’s a good thing I’m not a cat.  And it seems I’m not alone in thinking that:

Favorite Places – and People

I’ve been amazed, in my search to find appropriate quotes to accompany my blog, how many times I’ve come across meaningful ones by Albert Einstein. And we’re not necessarily talking brainy here.

I’ve discovered that when it comes to Mother Nature, and the desire for a better world, he and I are on the same wave length. Never mind that he’s been dead now for 57 years. Or that his geeky-scientist brilliance is mostly beyond my brain.

I found the above quote when I was looking for something to go with my choice of the Virginia Beach Aquarium as one of my favorite places. It’s so much more than an aquarium, just as Einstein was so much more than a scientist.

So along with sharing a few photos of the aquarium, here are a few more quotes from Einstein:

Ancient Graffiti Along Route 66

Newspaper Rock

The newspaper I found as I continued my travels on old Route 66 through the Petrified Forest National Park was 650 to 2000 years old. And it wasn’t written on paper pages.

It was scratched in desert varnish on large boulders. And I couldn’t understand it. Neither can the experts.

Actually, in today’s age we would probably call it graffiti.

Were the petroglyphs carved into the rock by wise men among the Puerco River Valley Indian farmers who lived in the area?

 Or were they done by bored Indian teenagers wanting to leave their mark on something?
