“You can’t travel the back roads very long without discovering a multitude of gentle people doing good for others with no expectation of gain or recognition. The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines.: — Charles Kuralt.
A Break from the Chaos
I don’t know about you, but I need a break from hearing people being unkind and downright nasty to each other. I’m tired of people who are rudely unaccepting of anyone or anything that is different from them or theirs.
I don’t expect everyone to think the way I think, or the way you think, but that doesn’t mean we can’t at least be civil to one another. Being different or thinking different is not a crime.
I think I need to take a back road road trip to remind me of all the good people in this world. And what better time of year to do it than in autumn, when Mother Nature showers the vistas with color.
Anyone want to join me?

Thanks for the beautiful pictures, Pat. 🙂 As to people being unkind to each other: that seems to be getting worse and worse. It really depresses me. Maybe your solution of a roadtrip will be it. We’ll see, as we’ll be leaving for the balloon festival in Albuquerque on Wednesday. We’ll do the back roads, too, especially since we’re going to take our time and do it in two days, with a stop in Lubbock.
Have a wonderful week,
Pit
All these photos are dreamy representations of my favorite season. Would love to see the aspens turning golden someday.
Thank you for the mention and the Bean’s Pat. 🙂 Yes, I would love to join you on the back roads. Autumn is my favorite season and I, too, have had enough of the sniping and snapping and snarling in the world of politics.
Gorgeous. The second photo looks like Holler poison oak, pretty but not too friendly.
Pat, you have hit the nail on the head. I would love to take a road trip and get away from the day to day for a while. Stress needs a relief valve and a drive down an autumn lane is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for the wonderful photos.
Beautiful photos!
It was Thanksgiving in Canada last weekend and to celebrate and really get in the spirit, I did not watch any news or read the NY Times for 3 days. It made a world of difference to how I felt. Walking in the woods helped too. A back road road trip sounds heavenly, Pat. Where to?
Thanks everyone for commenting and the kind words. I feel committed these days to encouraging kindness and civility. I’m hoping like-minded people will join me.
It’s a strange world now, for sure. I can’t seem to “like” posts anymore unless they’re on WordPress.
A lovely walk. For me, fall reds are my favorite colors of the season.
