Half asleep but with one eye open because Ijust opened the refrigerator door. Maggie had more attitude than any dog I ever owned. And I will miss her greatly. -- Photo by Pat Bean
I can’t stop crying long enough to write. Maggie’s gone to doggie heaven and whomever’s in charge damn well better make sure they treat her well. We lost the ear-infection battle.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I know she provided you with years of comfort and companionship on your travels.
I am so sorry, Pat. This is such sad news. Big hugs to you.
I’m so sorry Pat. No one knows how much our “fur kids” mean to us, how much love and companionship they offer. Maggie knew she was well loved, and I hope that will be a comfort for you in the days and weeks to come.
If there is a “rainbow bridge” in heaven where our beloved pets are waiting, I hope Maggie and my Barney are taking turns chasing each other.
Pat, I am so sorry. She was such a wonderful companion for you.
Oh, dear Pat, there are no words adequate to tell you how sorry I am for your loss & pain. Please know you are in my thoughts & prayers. Sending you a huge virtual hug.
Oh, Pat! I am so sorry! Oh no…words cannot convey my sorrow over her passing but please know you are in my thoughts.
Hi,
I am so very sorry to hear this news. I know how heart breaking it can be to lose a treasured pet.
Pat – I am so sorry for your loss. My heart definitely hurts for you. Thinking of you at this painful, sad time.
Dear Pat,
What sadness. I wish you were close enough that we could give you hugs while you cry. We loved Maggie, too, in just the short time we knew her. I don’t know if you can find comfort in this, but my sister, who loves dogs deeply, has told me that she often sees and feels her animal companions around her–and so do her children. They are not given to flights of fancy, and my sister is one who, of all people, I would not expect to experience such things (she was a reporter for a long time, like you, and very much believes in verifiable facts). And yet, her loved companions who have passed continue to be an active, comforting, and very tangible presence in her life. Keep an eye out for Maggie–I have a suspicion she may continue to travel with you–and I can’t imagine a girl like her doing it and not letting you know she’s there.
Oh, Pat, I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine the pain associated with losing your beloved companion. I am holding you close over the airwaves and sending out prayers for you and Maggie. May light perpetual shine upon her!
I’m so so sorry to read this Pat. I am sure Maggie will always be a part of you and your travels. Hugs.
I am really very sorry to read about the loss of your Maggie….
Pat, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I know what a special companion and a comfort she was. I think everyone who reads your blog will miss her greatly.
Thinking of you,
Kate
So sorry for your loss.
Ahh Pat, I’m so sorry your sweet Maggie is gone. All the love you gave her, she took with her and all her love stays in your heart where she’ll now play with the butterflies of your joy and run through the mountains and valleys of your feelings touching you with memories that will intertwine with all the seasons of your BEing. Holding you in hearts arms of love my precious friend. Hugs
I’m so sorry she’s gone from you, but she’s having a great time in doggie heaven. Sending lots of light and love your way – and a great, big hug!!
I am so sorry for your loss … I feel your pain, I have been there. From all that you have written about her, I know in time all the “life” you shared together will outweigh the pain you feel today. Sending you warm thoughts.
Thanks Beary. The joy she brought already far outweighs the pain. I treasure my time with her. Thanks for your kind thoughts. They do help. Keep writing … Pat Bean https://patbean.wordpress.com

Oh my dear sweet friend
My heart aches
And breaks in
Concert with yours…
May the sweet lass bring light
To the other side and know we all
Hold you both
In our hearts
During the painful transition.
My love, Nancilynn
Poetic and heartfelt as always, Nancilynn. Thank you for your kind thoughts and sweet words.

Oh Pat I’m so sorry to hear that…You are in my thoughts and I know she will be pampered.
So very sorry Pat, she was the best companion. What I time you 2 had – that will always be with you.
Oh my goodness. I am so sorry for your loss. 😦 I’m glad you believe she is in doggy heaven. Of course she is.
Pat, I’m so sorry! I knew something was up when you didn’t post for so long, but I hoped it was something happy. 😦 I feel a little like I lost a friend, too, you made Maggie’s presence so real to me here in your blog.
Please keep sharing part of your life with us. It’s like starting the day having coffee with a cherished neighbor.
HUGS,
MA
Thanks Marian for your kind words and letting everyone at the Cafe know. I’m better today but still can’t focus. I’ll post a blog about Maggie tomorrow and then hopefully get back to my daily routine. I just need one more day of aimlessness.

Dear Pat, I am so terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Our animal companions bring us so much joy and love. Thinking of you and of Maggie.
So sorry for your loss. All of us who have fur-friends know how much this hurts. Keeping you close in my heart.
Pat, I’m so sorry for your loss. 😦
So sorry to hear of your loss … pets are so much family and a part of our lives. Let’s rejoice for the amazing memories and enrichment Maggie brought.
Maggie left me a lot of memories, especially since it was just the two of us against the world for eight years. Thanks for your kind thoughts Stephen.

I’m so sorry to hear about Maggie, Pat. I know what hell you’re going through, since we’re on our fourth dog now since the DH and I have been married. Each one has been special. If it’s any consolation, at least Maggie was able to experience your love, and you have some wonderful memories to cherish.

Dear Pat, How absolutely tragic, and what an incredible loss of your best friend. Maggie was truly fortunate to have a partner in you. She will always be in your heart.
Pat, I’m so sorry. You and Maggie were devoted friends, the kind it’s hardest to lose. I can imagine the joy she must have felt being your partner in adventure. Thanks for sharing her with your readers so we could love her too.
Oh, Pat. I wish I could just hug you. I know how bad it feels to lose a pal like this. Beaming you with lots of light, friend!
Your light warms me.
What a sweet picture… I’m sorry you lost such a dear friend.
I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve been following your blog and know how Maggie was the perfect traveling companion. God Bless.
Sylvia
I understand how you feel, Pat. I cried for days after our miniature Schnauzer, Ruffles, died. I felt lucky, though, to have been with her for almost 19 years. I know you feel the same way about Maggie.
Thanks Helen. Losing a pet is part of loving them. I sometimes wish I thought a parrot that has a human life-span was as companionable as a dog that has only about 15 years to live out their lives.

I am sorry to read of the loss of your dear companion.
I am with my RV group in Mantica, CA. I just told another RVer about you and Maggie at breakfast. Now I read about Maggie’s death and my heart just aches for you. Sending light and blessings. Kristi
So sorry to hear about your dog Maggie, hope you are doing well.
Pat, I am SO sorry to hear about this. My heart hurts for you. 😦
Thanks Evie.
