Travels With Maggie
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters.” — Ursula k. leGuin
Pat Bean is a writer, avid birder, hiker and passionate nature observer with wanderlust in her soul who is beginning her seventh year living and traveling in a small RV with her 13-year-old cocker Spaniel, Maggie, as her only companion.
Both of them get antsy if they have to sit in one place too long. Pat is currently putting the finishing touches on a book she has titled, “Travels With Maggie.” She feels it would fit nicely on any book shelf, or on a Kindle, right next to Steinbeck’s “Travels With Charlie.” At least that’s her dream.
Since beginning their travels in the rolling home they call Gypsy Lee, they have gone over 115,000 miles, and are looking forward to doubling that.

Thanks for the pictures and background, Pat! Maggie looks like a wonderful companion. I’m fascinated with small living spaces, so your way of life intrigues me mightily. Do you overnight at RV parks, or with friends and family or at motels or just pull over at the side of the road? I’m looking forward to your book, and glad to follow your adventures on this blog. 🙂

In winter I mostly stick around Texas and park and plug in at at the homes of kids and grandkids. When traveling, spring through fall, my first choice of places to spend the night are state, corps of engineers or national parks, followed by decent commercial parks, preferably Good Sam ones. Being as I travel alone, I never just pull over to the side of the road. One time only, during a rain storm, I spent the night in a Walmart Parking lot. This past summer I volunteered at two Idaho State Parks and got my campground sites, with full hookups, free.
I’m so glad you are following me. It’s good to have you along for my journey Marian. I’m quite comfy in my 22-foot home but I don’t think it would be big enough for two humans.
Put me down for a copy!
